About our Company

  • History

LCS Coaches originally started its operations as Cloquet Transit Company, created over 80 years ago. While Cloquet Transit began offering charter service, it was in 1985 that LCS Coaches, Inc. was created as a separate company, leaving school transportation and routing as Cloquet Transit's main business.

Cloquet Transit's original owner, Walter Hebert, passed away in 1974. The company was then purchased by LeRoy Lane, who had been Mr. Hebert's manager for 17 years. He ran the company until he passed away suddenly in 1980, passing operations off to his wife, Ellen Lane. In October 1981 the company was granted an all-states operating license by the Interstate Commerce Commission, allowing the company to travel anywhere in the continental United States. Since then Ellen has retired, leaving the company to be run by her two sons, Jeffrey and Jack Lane.
